Beluga were founded by keyboard player and sound engineer Lorenzo Matellán and guitarist Razl (Raúl Huelvesis) (see solo listings on ProGGnosis). Matellán has engineered numerous albums including solo albums by Razl. Their debut release as Beluga features Marco Minnemann on drums and Damian Erskin on bass.
They describe their band as follows: "Beluga gathers influences from bands like Van Der Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant or King Crimson. It filters them through a Mr. Bungle strainer and performs in an imaginary Cirque Du Soleil."
