Two years after the release of the band's self titled album, some members of the band merged in the Goblin.- most notably keyboardist Claudio Simonetti (Daemonia) and Cherry Five were no more.  

The two original members who did not merge were the drummer Carlo Bordini (Rustichelli e Bordini) and the singer Tony Tartarini (L’uovo di Colombo, Il Reale Impero Britannico). 

Nearly 40 years later, Bordini and Tartarini met each other again thanks to Black Widow Records and they recorded a new album as Cherry Five but with a group of musicians from different backgrounds: the prog keyboardist Gianluca De Rossi (Taproban), the rock guitarist Ludovico Piccinini (Prophilax), and the jazz musician Pino Sallusti on bass.

In Mar 2017, Pino Sallusti passed away and that ended Cherry Five.

In 2022 after participating in the Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy projects for Collossus Magazine, Gianluca De Rossi (Taproban) and drummer Carlo Bordini formed the band De Rossi e Bordini.
