Ovni, from El Salvadore, formed with bothers Mauricio Alfaro and Rafael Alfaro. Rafael has been a significant part of the El Salvadorian music scene though Ovni (which means UFO in English), as a solo artist, as owner and producer of the Fragile recording studio and in other ways.
Initally the band began as KARN in 1978 singing in ENglish and influenced by British pop/rock. As they discovered progressive music of the 70's they changed the band name to Ovni and started writing music of a progressive nature and singing in their native Spanish.
Throughout the years, Rafael has been the only constant member of the band.
